Specification and limitations

This extension adds a "Continue Shopping" button to the Squarespace Cart. It cannot add buttons to the Checkout page (the page after the cart page) because Squarespace do not allow the Checkout page to be customised with code.

Clicking or tapping the "Continue Shopping" button returns the user to your store. You choose whether the user will be sent to a specific URL or the previous page.

You can choose your own label for the button - for example, "Mit dem Einkaufen fortfahren", "Continuer vos achats" or "Return to store".

This product has been updated for compatibility with sites using Afterpay and Clearpay (November 2021).

The extension adds a Continue Shopping button to the Squarespace Cart page.

The button appears to the left of the "Checkout" button on desktop, and above the "Checkout" button on mobile (see the example screenshots above).

Please remember that the Cart page is normally shown to customers before the Checkout page. However, if Express Checkout is enabled, or if a customer clicks Subscribe to purchase a Subscription product (including Member Areas) or clicks Purchase to buy a Gift Card, they will be sent directly to Checkout page, completely bypassing the Cart. This is because Squarespace requires them to confirm the order for a single subscription or gift card on its own, without adding other products to their cart.

This is extension is not currently compatible with our Wishlist extension and cannot be installed on sites where this is already installed. If you would like to use both, please contact our pre-sales team before purchase.

This extension is compatible with all Squarespace 7.0 templates in the Brine family and all templates in Squarespace 7.1. To check your template/version read the article What's my site's template and version?

Your website must be on a Business or Commerce billing plan. The extension cannot be installed on a Personal Plan. If you're on a Personal Plan, you can upgrade at any time. For more information on Squarespace Billing Plans, see Choosing the right Squarespace plan.

When you purchase the extension, you get a single copy of the software for use on the single website specified on the order form. To protect our rights, the extension is not transferable and will stop working if the built-in Squarespace domain name or the primary domain name does not match the details supplied on the order form.

Please note that this is true for all Squarespace extensions, plugins and code snippets; it is not limited to our Software but we want you to know this because we believe in honesty and transparency. We therefore highly recommend our optional support subscription. This ensures that the product remains fully supported throughout its lifetime. Email support is available whilst your subscription is active. You can cancel the subscription at any time from your account panel, but doing so will cancel all our support obligations for the Software.

Our extensions are not designed to be compatible with older browsers such as Internet Explorer. Microsoft killed off the Internet Explorer brand in 2015 and in 2019 they labeled Internet Explorer a "compatibility solution" rather than a browser and encouraged businesses to stop using the aging browser. It does not support modern web standards and so we don't support it. Our extensions are compatible with all the current web browsers that support modern web standards including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
